it's supplemental! support your body through all the ups + downs of life

I am so glad you are here to learn more about the amazing supplement line from Young Living. You KNOW they’re made from the best stuff around and you won’t believe the amazing variety of supplements you can snap up. (jump to the bottom, if you're more visual and want some easy to digest graphics)

The trouble with supplements is actually remembering to take them! Who knows this person?? Maybe it’s you. We all know that person who always had a million supplements in their kitchen cabinet, but never took them. Maybe you have a hard time swallowing pills. Whatever your reasoning, the trouble with supplements tends to be actually swallowing them! Many of us have fallen in love with our oils, along with everything that Young Living stands for. I've begun my journey of replacing nearly every product in our homes with the Young Living version, or the version I could DIY using oils. Not to mention that so many of us are getting a subscription box delivered every month full of oils along with some free stuff if you order a certain amount. A LOT of the free stuff was cool oils, new products, and, you guessed it...SUPPLEMENTS! Let’s be real, how many of us would have probably not tried most of these had we not received them for free? Nonetheless, I’ve noticed amazing differences in my life since adding these in and want to spread the good word so that YOU can start feeling amazing too! My routine includes the following...

Master Formula

Attention Lazy People! This is for YOU! (AKA, this is for me!) Master Formula is a super multivitamin, multi-mineral and multi-food supplement! There are 25 key dietary elements from Master Formula, with a minimum of 100% of the daily recommended amounts of 14 different vitamins and minerals. They call it the Master for a reason! This nutritional complex contains vitamins, minerals and food based nutrients to support overall health and well-being.

Primary Benefits //

  • Naturally supports general health and well-being for the body
  • Gut flora supporting prebiotics
  • Ingredients help neutralize free radicals in the body
  • Includes antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other food-based nutriment
  • Pre-packaged sachets are convenient to take your vitamins on the go
  • SSI Technology delivers ingredients in 3 forms chosen for their complementary properties

Ningxia Red

Basically, cannot live without this stuff.  It’s delicious and provides a boost of healthy energy for all! I won’t lie, when we first got our kit, these two little packets came with it, and I gave them the side-eye. Then didn't try them for months because I just assumed they were gross. WHOOPS. Not exaggerating when I say I DO NOT miss a day of Ningxia Red. There is really no comparison! Here is why it's the bee’s knees:

  • NingXia Red is a whole food nutrient that contains powerful antioxidant fighting properties. Antioxidants help to fight off free radicals which can break down your system. Antioxidants: another word for you to Google! Overall wellness and nutritional support is key and the mainstay of this delicious tasting supplement. It is recommended you take 1-2 ounces daily.
  • NingXia Red is formulated from exotic fruits such as the NingXia Wolfberry and is infused with essential oils. This wonderful supplement supports normal cellular function, eye health and prevents deterrents due to oxidative stress. Fortify, Energize and Revitalize are the key words that come to mind with Ningxia!
  • What is a Wolfberry? Wolfberries (aka goji berries) are super high in antioxidants and so good for you. In fact - they have an ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) value of 25,300! (In comparison, blueberries have score of 2,400.) If that’s not legit, I can’t say what is!

Things you MAY notice when drinking Ningxia Red on the daily //

  1. Improved memory
  2. Increased energy and stamina
  3. Restored healthy sexual function
  4. Maintained healthy cholesterol and healthy blood sugar levels
  5. Combat premature aging
  6. Improved digestion
  7. Promoted bowel regularity
  8. Improved immune system
  9. Supported healthy sleep
  10. Supported optimal vision

That’s a whole long list of good.

Okay, remember the issue with supplements? Taking them?  Well here’s another that you just can’t afford to skip: Multigreens!

Fun YL fact: Gary Young was first to add essential oils to supplements! Get this- clinical experience has shown that before putting essential oils in the MultiGreen formula, there was 42% blood absorption in 24 hours. After adding the essential oils to the formula, blood absorption increased to 64% in 30 minutes and 86% in one hour! The conclusion was that the cells were now receiving nutrients that they had previously not been able to assimilate! How cool is that?

MultiGreens really packs a powerful punch for a supplement. Get your daily source of greens in this bioactive sea vegetable energy source for vitality. The combination of bee pollen and essential oil blend helps to increase assimilation of the nutrients with an excellent choline source for energy production. This power packed supplement supports the nervous system, cardiovascular system, and the hormonal glands of the endocrine system. It contains 5 green superfoods including alfalfa, Siberian ginseng, barley (super nutrient rich food with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fiber.), kelp and spirulina (a single tablespoon of spirulina is equivalent to 4 grams of protein (that’s like eating an egg!).

🐝Bee pollen is part of this supplement as well and is a great source of protein, vitamins and minerals. (If you can get local bee pollen, you can add it into your yogurt, yummy and so so good for you!) It’s also high in protein and loaded with vitamins and minerals!

Essential Oils in MultiGreens //

  • Rosemary - can support healthy liver function.
  • Melissa - strengthening, cleansing, and revitalizing and can help to support the immune system.
  • Lemon - energizing and supportive to the circulatory system, also a great supporter of the liver!
  • Lemongrass - is purifying and supportive to the digestive system, also great for supporting healthy skin.

Looking for a great non-dairy calcium source? OR any Calcium source for that matter? Young Living's MultiGreens capsules contain barley grass, which offers 11 times more calcium than an 8-oz. glass of milk. That’s crazy awesome!

Life 9

Probiotics are so in right now! What exactly is a probiotic? These trendy probiotics deliver the “good” bacteria back into your digestive system to keep things working optimally. There are many varieties of probiotics on the market today and there are also a wide variety of qualities. When using a probiotic you want to be sure the probiotic is made up of an active or live strain! Life 9 comes as a delayed release capsule designed to bypass the stomach and deliver the probiotic to the lower digestive tract. The culture count matters as well and Young Living’s proprietary blend contains 17 billion which means 17 billion live beneficial cultures per serving byassing the stomach improving overall efficacy of the probiotic. That’s a lot!

But WHY do we need to use them? Probiotics can help your digestive system absorb more nutrients which is key to maintaining your health. We are learning more and more that the gut plays a HUGE role in optimal health. Supplementation may be helpful to assist the body to support every organ system. Good absorption + the ability to remove toxins = a healthy gut. Two thumbs up!  Probiotics also support normal elimination, which also gets a thumbs up!

This supplement contains omega 3 fatty acids (DHA rich fish oil), Vitamin D3 and CoQ10. This combination can be used daily for your wellness regimen. The ingredients are excellent and work together to support normal brain health, cardiovascular health, eye health and joint health. Everyone can benefit from this supplement! Basically, if you’re looking to maintain a normal level of well being, mental clarity and focus, added support for normal cardiovascular function, and additional joint support this is for you!  OmegaGize is also infused with Young Living essential oils including German Chamomile and Spearmint.

Why do we need omegas? When it comes to fat, there’s one type you don’t want to cut back on: omega-3 fatty acids. Two crucial ones — EPA and DHA — are primarily found in certain fish. ALA (alpha-linolenic acid), another omega-3 fatty acid, is found in plant sources such as nuts and seeds. Not only does your body need these fatty acids to function, but also they deliver some huge health benefits.

What about Vitamin D3? Did you know that we have a Vitamin D deficiency epidemic? With all the concern with skin cancer we load up on sunblock/sunscreen and don’t get nearly enough exposure to the sun. Have your blood levels drawn with your healthcare provider to check your levels. Having adequate levels of Vitamin D is shown to reduce many risk factors. Most multivitamin supplements only contain 400 IU of Vitamin D. This is not enough to increase your stores!

CoQ10 is an antioxidant made found in our bodies and is needed for basic cellular health. Having the proper amount of CoQ10 is crucial to muscle health too.

There are only TWO ingredients in SULFURZYME

  1. MSM (elemental sulfur); and
  2. Ningxia Wolfberry powder.

That’s it! Why wolfberry powder? MSM needs certain nutrients to be assimilated into our body and cells...and just so happens wolfberry contains them all! For dietary sulfur to be metabolized efficiently, the proper calcium amounts must be present. And remember that is takes magnesium to metabolize calcium!

Ninxgia wolfberry is added to Sulfurzyme for this reason. The benefits of wolfberries are amazing. They contain 21 trace minerals, 18 amino acids and many vitamins. It is a significant source of minerals and coenzymes that support the assimilation and metabolism of sulfur.

Everyone needs sulfur to live. If you are depleted of the sulfur you need, then your ability to detox goes way down! Sulfur is our main weapon for detoxing!

What sulfur can do for you //

  • Sulfur makes up our hair, skin, nails and is also key for rebuilding the myelin sheath around our nerves. The nerve sheath gets eaten off by toxins and heavy metals and we need sulfur for nerve communication! Sulfur also equalizes water pressure inside of our cells which supports joint health, our immune system, our digestive system and our cardiovascular system.
  • If you have super sensitive skin and tend to detox through the skin, then SulfurZyme should make it into your daily supplement regimen for sure!
  • It is safe for human and animal use; and is also available in a powder form which is great for your pets. With the powder, you can place it right on their food and they eat it right up! And get all the benefits of essential oils and more!

HOLD THE PHONE. Did someone say skin and hair? You mean, my crappy post-baby skin, and receding hairline can benefit from this supplement? Say no more. Sold.

This is an awesome supplement to take as part of your nighttime routine, riiight as you go to fill your bedside diffuser with sleepy time oils.

Immupro is a blend of some of the most potent immune supporting ingredients all wrapped into one delish fruit-flavored chewable. This one tablet can help fight the effects of oxidative stress on the body. Oxidative stress is when the body has too many free radicals. Free radicals are unavoidable and in excess can cause damage to the body. Pollution, second hand smoke, herbicides, and even our own immune systems produce free radicals. The key to keeping things balanced is an antioxidant. Antioxidants are able to neutralize the free radicals.

Immupro delivers the antioxidants in the form of wolfberries. If you haven’t already heard, wolfberries are off-the-charts-incredible for anyone wanting antioxidants. It also contains a teeny bit of melatonin to support healthy sleep! We all know good sleep is needed to restore and prepare the body for the next day. It also contains calcium, selenium, zinc, and and copper to support the immune system.

How do I use ImmuPro? Chew 1 tablet before retiring.

Kids Need Supplements, too!

Kidscents Mightyvites: Dude. These are the best vitamins for children on the market! There are no artificial dyes or chemicals like other brands we previously used. (Think Flintstones gummies that are loaded with RED DYE. Gross.) Check with your doc on dosage for your kiddo.

The kids MightyVites are chewable tablets that contain superfruits, plants, and vegetables that deliver the full spectrum of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients for children's developing bodies. These vitamins feature an enhanced vitamin-mineral source and it comes in two natural flavors: orange cream and mixed berry. Mamas if you don't have these...get you some

How To Use: Children 6–12 yrs old, take three chewable tablets daily. Can be taken before breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or in one daily dose.

Kidscents MightyZymes are an all-natural, vegetarian product in the form of chewable tablets designed to help children combat the negative effects of of enzyme depletion. MightyZyme chewables address each of the digestive needs of growing bodies and assist the normal digestion of all foods, including proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. I don't know about you but I like the sound of that!

Why are these important you ask?  In short, even the healthiest diet is useless without enzymes. Enzymes are substances that make life possible! They are needed for every chemical reaction that takes place in the human body. Vitamins, minerals, nor hormones can do any work without enzymes. This is why enzyme depletion is concerning, and why it needs to stop; starting with our own families. So...defend those sweet systems with a flood of healthy enzymes!

Kidscents MightyPro. YL's newest supplement for kiddos is a probiotic. Can I get an Amen?!? As we talked about earlier, the microbiome is wicked important for overall wellness, and if you have a picky eater like me, this is a sure fire way to keep that microbiome strong. MightyPro is a unique, synergistic blend of prebiotics and probiotics in a supplement specially formulated for children. Featuring a great-tasting formula that can be added to cold food and drinks for easy consumption, MightyPro supports gastrointestinal and immune health and maintains gut health in children, keeping kids up and active. That means fewer missed days of school, day care, and playing with friends.*

The appearance of healthy gut microflora has widespread and long-lasting consequences on your child’s well-being. MightyPro features the goodness of Young Living’s own Ningxia wolfberries and is formulated to support beneficial bacteria in the gut. MightyPro single-serve packets are a convenient choice for the whole family, with a formula that promotes not only digestive health but also general health in both children and adults.*

Ningxia for Kids

Lots of kiddos drink 1 oz of Ningxia a day! Sometimes I mix it with water most days, other days let him drink it straight, and other days we make popsicles!

Nothing like a hot summer day to make you crave a cool treat, right? However, many of the options available aren’t necessarily the healthiest. Try this refreshing alternative that also provides a ton of extra goodness all in one delicious package! NingXia Red Creamsicles are a huge hit both with kids and adults alike :)

Ingredients //

  • 1 cup of NingXia Red
  • 1 cup vanilla yogurt (or non-dairy alternative)
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen fruit
  • Popsicle molds

Directions // Place ingredients in blender and blend until smooth. Pour into molds, freeze, and enjoy! If you don’t have popsicle molds handy, simply use small dixie cups and popsicle sticks ;) You could also use plain or flavored Greek yogurt for an additional health boost.

Let’s get this straight. I am not a doctor and not a member of the FDA. Safety is of utmost importance when using essential oils, of course! It’s easy to get overwhelmed with all of the information out there; but using common sense and starting gradually will help ease any sort of intimidation you might feel as you begin using essential oils in your everyday life.

We recommend picking yourself up a reference guide of some kind. Our favorites are found at and you can also grab them on Amazon. Young Living’s' purity and grade is extremely high (which is why I love them!), so they should be used with knowledge and respect. I also ONLY recommend using Young Living Oils and cannot recommend or speak to using any other brand.

Here are a few suggestions for safety:

1. When storing essential oils (EOs), it’s important to keep them in a cool, dark place with lids tightly closed (and ALWAYS out of reach of children). You’ll also want to keep carrier oils (for example coconut oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, vitamin e oil, sweet almond oil, etc.) on hand for dilution. Always use and store EOs in glass containers, especially when drinking them in water, since most plastic products contain chemicals that can be easily broken down by the oil.

2. Most EOs are generally safe for use during pregnancy, but need to be used with common sense. As with any health program, you may want to consult a healthcare professional beforehand. A couple great resources are the books Gentle Babies and Aromatherapy for the Healthy Child.

3. Citrus oils cause photosensitivity when applied to the skin. They may cause a rash or dark pigmentation on skin exposed to UV rays or direct sunlight within 8-10 hours after application.

4. Keep EOs away from eyes and never put them directly into the ears.

5. Should irritation or accidental contact with eyes occur, never use water to clear the EO (they are not water-soluble). Instead, use a V6 vegetable oil complex or other carrier oil (such as coconut oil or sweet almond oil) to cleanse the area and reduce discomfort.

6. Epileptics and people with high blood pressure should use extra caution when using EOs high in ketones like basil, rosemary, sage, or tansy. For people with allergies or sensitive skin, it’s best to test a small area (like the inside of the upper arm or bottom of the foot) and wait 30 minutes before applying to other areas. In general, the bottoms of the feet are safe for topical application.

7. Direct inhalation (*Not the same as diffusing) can be a deep and intensive application method, particularly for respiratory congestion and illness. This method should not be used more than 10-15 times throughout the day without first consulting a healthcare professional.

8. When adding EOs to bath water, start with 1-3 drops first mixed with Epsom salt to help disperse the oil. Never use more than 10 drops in one bath. If a dispersing agent is not used, serious discomfort can be caused due to the fact that oils tend to float undiluted on top of the water.

9. Young Living states right on the bottle if an oil can be consumed as a food additive or “dietary supplement.” Please DO NOT use any EO internally that is not specifically indicated for that purpose.

10. Application of oils on children is not recommended until after 6 months of age, and must always be heavily diluted. Start with the bottoms of feet before applying to other areas of the body. Again, the book Gentle Babies is an incredible resource to learn more on EO safety in pregnancy, while breastfeeding, and with children. Diffusing around babies and children is, however, the safest route. has a convenient dilution calculator to help you figure out a good dilution!

Gold star if you made it all the way through. It’s important!

summer announcements + promotions

Happy halfway through the year!

That was fast. I don't know about you, but my 2018 has zipped by, but the ride has been amazing so far! I am so grateful I get to be a part of Young Living. This is so much bigger than me and you. So blessed I said "Yes" to all of this over two years ago and I am so excited YOU said "Yes" to this healthy lifestyle, too! I can't wait to see where we both are by the end of the year.

Let's jump right into the summer announcements + promotions!

First off, I want to say thank you for inspiring me to create new products for the Etsy shop. We've got three new beauty serums (for the lovelies with 'simple' skin type to lovelies who need a little more support (ME!)). I started making the 'advance' beauty serum after having my little girl. The hormonal roller coaster and sleep deprivation that is having two kids left my skin dull + tired + breaking out. Thank you fatty seed and essential oils for coming to my rescue. It also has a cheery yet calming scent that I love, too! My husband was the inspiration for the five different types of beard oil. He's much more kissable now that his beard is more tame. And he smells oh so good! And lastly, Diane Bozak has created more absolutely stunning and completely unique diffuser bracelets. Make sure you use the code "FRIENDSANDFAMILY" at checkout (free shipping, too). My way of saying thank you for being here on this journey with me.

Second, I'm opening TWO mentorship positions on my team this month!

What does that mean!? Well, I'm looking for two people who would like to work side-by-side with me to spread our mission and get safer products into the hands of everyone! I will be your mentor, help you build your biz and share your passion for healthier living. As part of my mentorship program, I'd like to offer to reimburse your enrollment fee (starter kit fee) when you sign up to be a distributor and purchase a deeply discounted starter set of products! (This offer is only valid for the month of July and you will be reimbursed by me personally.)

Have questions, want to learn more? Reply to this email and we can chat more! I'd love to set up a call and get to know you better! Ready to sign up?! Just hit the button below.

Interested but also a little nervous? True to form, I've created an online class for you, too. Use the password "dreamscometrue" to access the class for a limited time.

Last announcement. If you're in the Portland Metro area, I hope to see you at the Mom Made Market on August 18-19 at Alpenrose Dairy. You certainly don't have to be a mom to attend. It's free and you'll be supporting an amazing group of mothers who pour their soul into their work. They have annual markets in Arizona, Hawaii, San Diego, Santa Barbara and Orange County, too. Learn more >>>

Just kidding, one more announcement... Young Living released so many exciting products at the 2018 International Grand Convention! It can be hard to keep track of them all (maximum strength acne treatment, new makeup, the cutest lantern diffuser, prebiotic/probiotics for kids, and 50 SPF sunscreen, which is recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation)—but don't fret! Here's a brief introduction to each product, so you can start using them in your everyday life! I can't wait to finally try the mascara and the charcoal bar soap for me, and the probiotics for the littles.

Order all the new products through Essential Rewards and receive 10%-25% BACK in essential reward points to use on future products. If you aren't on ER yet, we need to have a little chat. ;) It's the best way to save money.

Check out July's free and fearless.

Thank you for being here on this journey with me. I'm truly honored you're here.

With Love & Gratitude,

Part 3 // Chakras & Oils Series

We're heading into the last part of this series. This last section will cover the Heart Chakra, the start of the upper four chakras and the transition from the physical-related chakras to those associated with the higher self. This chakra serves as a means of connection for the chakras as a whole, as well as our connection to others and the universe around us. There's lots to cover, take your time to absorb and grow!

Fourth / Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is the connection between matter and spirit. Located at the heart center, the fourth chakra is at the middle of the seven and unites them. The fourth is also spiritual but serves as a bridge between our body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The Heart Chakra is our source of love and connection. It encompasses the heart and lungs, and the chakra itself exists within the chest, just above the heart. The lesson of this chakra is I Love.

The Heart Chakra is most often associated with the color green. Green is a color of harmony, growth, abundance and nature. Green works to revitalize the nerves, offering new energy outward to renew and fresh the sense of vitality.

How do you know if your Heart Chakra is unbalanced? Apathy and faithlessness. Distrust and difficulty to commit. Breast issues. Over-loving (suffocation). Jealousy. Abandonment. Anger. Bitterness. Fear of Loneliness. Lack of empathy. Fear of intimacy.

Tips for Balancing your Heart Chakra: Locate your hearth Chakra - located at the heart. Smile at everyone you see daily, even if you don’t feel like smiling. Forgive and move on. Life is too short to hold grudges. Give friends, family, and co-workers positive affirmations and feedback. Engage with the element of air. Practice and reflect on empathy and your caring for others. Surround yourself with the color green and practice while utilizing the color green, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Heart Chakra: moonstone, tourmaline, rose quartz, aventurine, emerald, green calcite, green tourmaline.

Practice yoga poses that open the chest, such as camel pose (Ustrasana) and eagle (Garudasana).

Suggested Essential Oils Recommended for Diffusing and/or applying for balancing the Heart Chakra: Rose, Geranium, Jasmine, Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang, Eucalyptus, Acceptance, Humility, Joy, Bergamot, Rosemary, Peppermint, Tea Tree.

Heart Chakra Balancing Spray Recipe: 5 drops Bergamot + 1 drop Rose + 3 drops Lavender + 2 drops Neroli + 2 drops Tangerine + 1-4 Rose Quartz pebbles (optional). Combine ingredients in a small 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water or into a 5 ml glass bottle with carrier oil. Apply to Root Chakra as needed.

Affirmation / I listen to my heart and honor its connection to the hearts of others. I allow love to fill me up and guide me in all my actions. I gracefully move to the rhythm of life.

Guided Meditation for Heart Chakra Balancing

The Spiritual Chakras

In the first half of the series, we covered the Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, and Solar Plexus Chakra. These more physical chakras deal with energies that are more concerned with the fundamental functions of life and well-being. They are not of less importance, but rather serve as more foundational energies that provide the basis for a higher self.

These following three sections are concerned with the final three chakras: the Throat Chakra, the Third Eye or Brow Chakra, and the Crown Chakra.

Fifth Chakra: The Vishuddha chakra is the fifth chakra, located in the area of the throat. This is our source of verbal expression and the ability to speak our highest truth. The fifth chakra includes the neck, thyroid, and parathyroid glands, jaw, mouth, and tongue. ***The lesson of this chakra is to speak up and let your voice be heard.***

Sixth Chakra: The Ajna Chakra is located in between the eyebrows. It is also referred to as the “third eye” chakra. Ajna is our center of intuition. We all have a sense of intuition but we may not listen to it or heed its warnings. Focus on opening the sixth chakra will help you hone this ability. ***The lesson of this chakra is to see the big picture.***

Seventh Chakra: The Sahasrara Chakra or the “thousand petal lotus” chakra is located at the crown of the head. This is the chakra of enlightenment and spiritual connection to our higher selves, others, and ultimately, to the divine. It is located at the crown of the head. ***The lesson of this chakra is live mindfully.***

Fifth Chakra / Throat

The first of the three more spiritual or ‘Higher Self’ chakras is the Throat Chakra. Like the physical nature of the throat, the Throat Chakra deals with communication and expression of ideas, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It is our center of expression in terms of vocalizing truths. Generally, this chakra begins to develop later in life, as one becomes more comfortable expressing their ideas, opinions, and thoughts to others. This chakra relates to the thyroid gland, upper lungs, and the respiratory system.

The Throat Chakra is also associated with the color blue. Because the Throat Chakra deals with open communication and clarity, one way to conceptualize its relation to blue is the instance of clear skies – open and bright blue. Blue is related to devotion, health, infinity, and calm.

How do you know if your Throat Chakra is unbalanced? Habitual lying. Difficulty communicating or feeling of insecurity when expressing oneself. Nervousness. Voice loss. Fear of no power or choice. No willpower, out of control. Mind and heart aren’t connected.

Tips for Balancing your Throat Chakra - Locate it first - at the throat. Surround yourself with the color blue, like being under a blue sky. Practice throat and vocal exercises – try being loud! (Chanting, singing, humming, and reading aloud). Meditate and still your mind, and focus on listening to your inner thoughts. Acknowledge and record your opinions openly. Practice while utilizing the color blue, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Throat Chakra: sapphire, aquamarine, red and brown aventurine, quartz crystal, angelite, blue lace agate, blue topaz, turquoise.

Focus on asanas that work on the upper body (shoulders, upper back) - camel pose (Ustrasana), bridge pose (Setu Bandha Sarvangasana), shoulder stand (Salamba Sarvangasana), and plow (Halasana).

Suggested Essential Oils to diffuse/apply to throat for balancing your throat chakra: Roman Chamomile, Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon, Geranium, Coriander, Patchouli, Hyssop, Hope, Valor, Envision, Believe.

Throat Chakra Balancing Spray Recipe: 6 drops Bergamot + 5 drops Roman Chamomile + 2 drops Basil + 1-4 Lapiz pebbles (optional). Combine ingredients in a small 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water or into a 5 ml glass bottle with carrier oil. Apply to Throat Chakra as needed.

Affirmation / I love and accept myself. I am willing to stand up for myself in confidence for that which I believe. I have the freedom to make my own choices in life with appreciation of my sense of self. I am connected to the source of all power and it flows through me to encourage the power of others.

Sixth Chakra / Third Eye

The Third Eye Chakra has the quality of subtle ether. Ether is the connectedness of space – it’s what exists between all things, regardless of time. The Third Eye Chakra is a chakra that, in a sense, reveals the nature of this ether to our understanding. It enables us to experience clear thought and mindfulness of the object at hand, and it’s considered to be the source of our dreams, as well as psychic abilities, such as Clairvoyance. When this chakra is balanced we feel clear, focused, and can determine between truth and illusion. We are open to receiving wisdom and insight. Blocked by illusion.

The Third Eye Chakra is referred to as Ajna in Sanskrit. In the body, it’s located at the eyebrow and center of the forehead. In a similar capacity to our understanding of the brain, this chakra acts as the “command station” of the body and mind. It a place of consciousness that allows us to reflect upon the nature of things, including ourselves. It’s here that we look within ourselves and act as a witness or observer, a reflective point of view.

The color of the Third Eye Chakra is indigo blue, a powerful color relates to connection and the door to divinity. Indigo is a color of insight, a bridge between the left and right sides of the brain. It is a color of symbolic thinking and visionary abilities. It’s the spark that exists within someone’s eye – the ability to see a pathway and means of accomplishing or understanding things.

How do you know if your Third Eye Chakra is unbalanced? Nightmares. Learning difficulties. Eye, ear, scalp or hair, sinus or hormone issues. Eyestrain. Poor intuition.

Tips for Balancing your Third Eye Chakra: Locate it first - Middle of the eyebrows, in the center of the forehead. Mediate on the concept that everything is connected. Sit in the stillness of nature and simply observe the world. Separate yourself from illusion and fantasy and identify truths behind questions that you face. Practice while utilizing the color indigo, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Third Eye Chakra: diamond, amethyst, azurite, lapis lazuli, sodalite.

Practice Om or Sham mantra by chanting Om or Sham, the vibrations will open and align this chakra

Suggested Essential Oils to use with balancing the Third Eye Chakra: Bergamot, Lemon, Orange, Lavender, Rosemary, Clary Sage, Patchouli, Helichrysum, frankincense, White Angelica, Awaken. Dream Catcher, Transformation. Diffuse and/or apply to the Third Eye Chakra area.

Third Eye Balancing Spray Recipe: 5 drops Lavender + 3 drops Idaho Blue Spruce + 2 drops Frankincense + 1 drop Clary Sage + 1-4 Amethyst pebbles (optional). Combine ingredients in a small 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water or into a 5 ml glass bottle with carrier oil. Seventh Chakra / Crown

The Crown Chakra, one of the most difficult chakras from people to understand and fully open. It is often referred to and depicted as the ‘thousand-petaled Lotus.’ This chakra sits atop the chakra ladder, where the Root Chakra grounds us to earth, the Crown Chakra connects us to what is beyond earth – the heavens and ether above. This chakra is highly complex, dealing with transcendence beyond all other things and worldly attachments. This serves as a connection to the universe and helps breed our imagination and self-creation. The highest chakra represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. Deals with pure, cosmic energy, and is blocked by earthly attachment. When this chakra is balanced, we live in the present moment. We have an unshakeable trust in our inner guidance.

It exists on the top of the head, sometimes depicted as being just above the body. It relates to the nervous systems, pineal gland, and brain. It deals with awareness, understanding, and our highest states of potential and being. When this chakra is opened and fully functioning, you’re enabled to have complete control of your thoughts and actions. This chakra directly connects us to the pure cosmic energy of the universe.

The color of the Crown Chakra is deep violet. It represents the connection between red (matter) and blue (spiritual energy). It is both subtle and overt, dealing with all form of our health, from our spiritual, to mental, to physical health. Violet relates to letting go of sadness and intense and powerful change. It is cleansing and purifying, and contains mystery and mysticism. The sense of the Crown Chakra deals with a sense of wholeness and completion.

How do you know if your Crown Chakra is unbalanced? Confusion. Loss of faith. Light sensitivity. Neurological issues. Inability to learn. Sensitivity to light, sound, environment. Difficult to meditate. Bodily disconnect.

Tips for Balancing your Crown Chakra. Locate it first - Top of head. Meditate upon the silence after the Om mantra - silence is the most powerful and important way to opening the seventh chakra. Reflect in silence. Think of all your worldly attachments, and let them go.

Realize that letting go of these things doesn’t mean never having them. Engage in spiritual practices, rhythms, and groups. Practice Om mantra - by chanting Om, the vibrations will open and align this chakra. Practice while utilizing the color violet, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Crown Chakra: sapphire, green aventurine, quartz, diamond, clear calcite.

Seal the Energy

Once you’ve worked on getting your chakras aligned or finished your meditation or yoga practice for the day, I recommend that you use this recipe to “seal” the energy: ⠀

Seal the Energy Spray: 10 drops of Valor or Valor II + 3 drops of White Angelica + One small Clear Quartz stone (optional). Mix the essentials oils in a 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water and put the stone into the bottle. Swirl the contents before using and spray over the crown of your head or over the chakra that you worked on.⠀

Thank you for being here on this journey with me. xo

That’s the end of our series! I hope you have learned a lot about how to open up your chakras in combination with Young Living Essential Oils. Use this information in your own personal practice or if you teach yoga, be sure to utilize these recipes with your clientele.

Part 2 // Balance Your Chakras Using Essential Oils

Let's continue our discussion on chakras and essential oils by exploring why you should care!  These swirling wheels of energy correspond to massive nerve centers in the body. Each of the seven main chakras contains bundles of nerves and major organs as well as our psychological, emotional, and spiritual states of being. Since everything is moving, it’s essential that our seven main chakras stay open, aligned, and fluid. If there is a blockage, energy cannot flow. Think of something as simple as your bathtub drain. If you allow too much hair to go into the drain, the bathtub will back up with water, stagnate and eventually bacteria and mold will grow. So is too with our bodies and the chakras. A bathtub is simple; it’s physical so the fix is easy. Keeping a chakra open is a bit more of a challenge, but not so difficult when you have awareness. Since mind, body, soul, and spirit are intimately connected, awareness of an imbalance in one area will help bring the others back into balance. Take for example, a wife, who has recently lost her husband. She develops acute bronchitis, which remains in the chest, and then gets chest pains each time she coughs. The whole heart chakra is affected in this case. If she realizes the connection between the loss and the bronchitis, healing will occur much faster if she honors the grieving process and treats that as well as the physical ailment.

Where do I start?

Clearing the chakras begins with the foundation. The first three chakras are the chakras of Matter, starting at the base of the spine. They are more physical in nature. We need to start at the base - or the Root Chakra - on this journey to begin balancing. Here’s a brief overview of the three chakras of matter before we dive deep into the first one on it’s own.

First Chakra: The Muladhara is the chakra of stability, security, and our basic needs. It encompasses the first three vertebrae, the bladder, and the colon. When this chakra is open, we feel safe and fearless. We feel supported, a sense of connection and safety to the physical world, and grounded. ***The lesson of this chakra is self-preservation; we have a right to be here.***

Second Chakra: The Svadhisthana Chakra is our creativity and sexual center. It is located above the pubic bone, below the navel, and is responsible for our creative expression. When this chakra is balanced, we have an ability to take risks, we are creative, we are committed. We are passionate, sexual and outgoing. ***The lesson of this chakra is to honor others.***

Third Chakra: The Manipura Chakra means lustrous gem and it’s the area from the navel to the breastbone. The third chakra is our source of personal power. When this chakra is balanced, we feel self-respect and self-compassion. We feel in control, assertive, confident. ***The lesson of this chakra is self-acceptance.***

First Chakra / Root

Heart Chakra

The Root Chakra, or the Muladhara is the chakra of stability, security, and our basic needs. It encompasses the first three vertebrae, the bladder, and the colon. When this chakra is open, we feel safe and fearless. We feel supported, a sense of connection and safety to the physical world, and grounded. ***The lesson of this chakra is self-preservation; we have a right to be here.***

The Root Chakra is often associated with the color red. Red symbolizes life, vitality, endurance, and appetite – the very drivers of our survival and existence as beings within the universe.

How do we know if the Root Chakra is blocked or unbalanced? Feelings of loneliness and insecurity, lack of confidence, spacey, feeling unsafe, digestive/excretion issues, and/or experiencing times of instability or change.

Suggested Essential Oils to use with balancing the Root Chakra include: Cypress, Ginger, Cinnamon Bark, Sandalwood, Valor, Abundance, Grounding, Vetiver, Myrrh, Patchouli, Sacred Mountain and Nutmeg. Diffuse and/or apply to base of spine and/or bottom of feet. (Select one or a combination that you are drawn to - there is no right or wrong answer!)

Root Chakra Balancing Recipe: 1 drop Vetiver + 2 drops Myrrh + 6 drops Sacred Frankincense + 4 drops Ylang Ylang + 1-4 small Red Jasper pebbles (optional). Combine ingredients in a small 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water or into a 5 ml glass bottle with carrier oil. Apply to Root Chakra as needed.

Balancing tips: Meditate outside, sitting on the ground to connect with the earth for this practice. Focus on yoga asanas (poses) that focus on grounding your body. Take a walk in nature. Practice while utilizing the color red, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Root Chakra: bloodstone, onyx, obsidian, hematite, or tigers eye.

Affirmation / I am connected to all that is around me, this connection gives me a strong foundation and does not hold me back. Security and stability in life allow me to move with both confidence and connection to who I am.

Guided Meditation for Root Chakra

Second Chakra / Sacral

Moving on to the Second Chakra – Sacral. Located just above the Root Chakra, the Sacral Chakra deals primarily with our ability of acceptance, connection, creativity, and sexual health. It deals with our ideals of enjoyment and pleasure. It is located in the lower abdomen, just below the navel. This position connects it to our sense of abundance and well-being. It can greatly affect the physical energy of the body, and when it falls out of balance, one can feel lethargic, tired and mundane. When this chakra is balanced, we have an ability to take risks, we are creative, we are committed. We are passionate, sexual and outgoing.

The Sacral Chakra is associated with the color orange. Orange reflects a feeling of openness and changing (consider the changing tones of color in the fall – almost all pass through orange). Orange energy is also very sensual, and is able to transform mundane energy into more powerful, bright energy.

Tips for Balancing your Sacral Chakra. Locate it first - Lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel and two inches in. Spend time near or in the water. Practice positive affirmations – “I love life” and “I know that I deserve goodness and joy” are two examples. Practice fluid, changing yoga poses (Seated pelvic circles, butterfly pose, cobra pose). Hula hooping, spinning, and other motion driven exercises stimulate this chakra. Practice while utilizing the color orange, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Sacral Chakra: carnelian, red garnet, red jasper, red and brown aventurine, ruby.

Suggested Essential Oils to use with balancing the Sacral Chakra include: Ylang Ylang, Clary Sage, Rose, Rosemary, Patchouli, Jasmine, Cedarwood, orange, tangerine, geranium, Peace & Calming, Harmony, Inner Child, and Forgiveness; diffused and/or applied slightly below the navel.

Sacral Balancing Recipe: 7 Drops Orange + 4 drops Ylang Ylang + 2 drops Neroli + 1-4 Carnelian pebbles (optional). Combine ingredients in a small 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water or into a 5 ml glass bottle with carrier oil. Apply to Sacral Chakra as needed.

Affirmation / I am a sensory being full of creative potential. I embrace life with passion and enjoy plunging into joy and happiness. My senses are alive, aware, and connected.

Guided Meditation for Sacral Chakra Balancing

Third Chakra / Solar Plexus

The Solar Plexus most common chakra to be out of balance. This chakra is located about two inches above the navel at the diaphragm of the body. Here, this chakra connects us to discipline, desire and gut instincts. It affects the sense of power and comfort one has with their surroundings, and when it is out of balance, the chakra can affect our sense of certainty. Deals with willpower, and is blocked by shame. When this chakra is balanced, we feel self-respect and self-compassion. We feel in control, assertive, confident.

The Solar Plexus Chakra is associated with the color yellow. The color represents vibrance, youthful, optimism and energy. At the same time, like a hot yellow sun, the color represents knowledge and wisdom. It’s connected to introspection, intellect and guided autonomy.

How do you know if your Solar Plexus Chakra is Unbalanced? Weak concentration. Poor memory. Uncentered, uneasy feeling. Skin issues. Fatigue. Colon Issues. Poor self-worth, self-esteem. Low self-confidence.

Tips for balancing the Solar Plexus Chakra: Locate it: Upper abdomen in the stomach area. Bask in sunlight. Start a bonfire (safely) and sit around it with friends. Talk a walk in the sun. Meditate and practice metacognition (think about how you think). When you meditate on the solar plexus, your focus should be on connecting with your personal power. Practice while utilizing the color yellow, or incorporating a gemstone over the chakra area using a gemstone specific for balance of the Solar Plexus Chakra: amber, quartz, topaz, aragonite, citrine, golden calcite, yellow sapphire.

Suggested Essential Oils for Use with Balancing the Solar Plexus Chakra: Myrrh, Frankincense, Balsam Fir, Lemon, Juniper, Basil, Lavender, Bergamot, Geranium, Ginger, Lemongrass, Harmony, Sacred Mountain, Acceptance, Release. Diffuse or apply to upper abdomen, stomach area.

Solar Plexus Balancing Recipe: 5 drops Grapefruit + 4 drops Lemon + 2 drops Lemongrass + 2 drops Roman Chamomile + 1-4 Citrine pebbles (optional). Combine ingredients in a small 2 oz spray bottle with distilled or bottled water or into a 5 ml glass bottle with carrier oil. Apply to Solar Plexus Chakra as needed.

Affirmation / I love and accept myself. I am willing to stand up for myself in confidence for that which I believe. I have the freedom to make my own choices in life with appreciation of my sense of self. I am connected to the source of all power and it flows through me to encourage the power of others.

Guided Meditation for Solar Plexus Chakra Balancing

Part 1 // Balance Your Chakras Using Essential Oils

This week, we're starting a three part series discussing how you can use essential oils to balance your chakras. Before we start, let's clear the energy around you using sage or sage essential oil to ensure the space you’re in is a positive one.

Here is a simple way to clear your space:⠀
Try making a Clear the Energy spray with the following items: 13 drops of Sage essential oil + 2 oz spray bottle + 1-4 small Clear Quartz pebbles (optional). Fill spray bottle with distilled or bottled water and all the ingredients above or use a 5 ml roller bottle, add the ingredients and fill to the top with carrier oil. Swirl contents before using. Spray it in the corners of your room, over the door frame and throughout the space. Spray it on your mat before you start your yoga or meditation practice.⠀

Or try using a sage stick:⠀
Step 1: Notice funky energy or just want a clear space.⠀
Step 2: Grab a sage stick. You can get them at most metaphysical stores and even at some health food stores.⠀
Step 3: Light it up.⠀
Step 4: Walk around your house with it & create an INTENTION to clear your space. Some people like to walk in a counter-clockwise direction.⠀
Step 5: Run sage under a bit of water to extinguish & place on a fire-proof surface to dry (SUPER IMPORTANT!)⠀
Step 6: Enjoy your now energetically cleared space.⠀

Okay folks, we are going to get right to the nitty gritty. When I first started with Chakras, the hardest thing was trying to understand something I could not see. However, putting them in terms of spinning energies that focus on points of the body and identifying a color and emotion helped me personally.⠀

The Sanskrit word Chakra literally translates to wheel or disk. In yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda, this term refers to wheels of energy throughout the body. There are seven main chakras, which align the spine, starting from the base of the spine through to the crown of the head. To visualize a chakra in the body, imagine a swirling wheel of energy where matter and consciousness meet. This invisible energy, called Prana, is vital life force, which keeps us vibrant, healthy, and alive. Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it's important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.⠀

The belief is that, through essential oils, energy can be generated for the chakra to keep it healthy and balanced. Sometimes one, or more, of the main chakras can be out of balance, or the energies flowing through them may be blocked. When this happens it has an effect on our health either physically, mentally or emotionally. Using essential oils can help stimulate the 'energy centers' and bring them back into balance. Amazing, right!?! What is your experience? Which oils do you use? Comment below.

We'll continue with each of the chakras next week!

All Things Thieves Online Class

As health and wellness are on the rise, you will see many more companies put products on the shelf that appear to be safe and read “all natural,” but are they really all that safe?

In this class, I will break down some of the misleading information out there and give you alternatives you can feel confident using at an affordable price! I’ll even throw in a few bonus DIY recipes. Get ready to shocked when you learn about what is lurking in your cabinets!

Even though some naturally occurring things in nature can be harmful, I want to assure you that throughout this class, when I refer to products or ingredients as "natural," I mean they are NOT harmful to your health and they are completely safe for you and your family. We will talk about all of my favorites from Young Living and I can assure you they are very safe and also very effective. It's an easy ditch and switch in our house and I know it will be for yours as well.

As the world becomes more aware of what is and isn’t healthy, “all natural” and “toxin-free” products are becoming more and more popular. But are those products really safe? Take a minute and go to your app store and download the app called “Think Dirty.” Sign in and let it take you through the tutorial on how to use the app. I will have you use it throughout class to get more familiar with the products in your house.

The Think Dirty app is an application you can use to scan products and see how they rate in terms of safety. If anything rates a six or higher, I don't touch it with a ten foot pole. If it rates between a 3-5, I check out the ingredient/s that are making it rate that high and also look them up on the The Environmental Working Group website to see why that ingredient is given a higher rating. If that ingredient is the LAST ingredient listed on the product label, I know there is only a small amount in the product. Then I make my own judgment call on whether I want to use the product or not. Products rated 1-2 are completely safe and are my top picks.

If that feels uber time-consuming, it is a great idea to find a company that has your health in mind and is committed to producing products that are safe and effective.

Enter Young Living.

Just for fun, I want you to collect one product from your kitchen, bathroom, and laundry room. For example, all-purpose cleaner, shampoo, and laundry detergent.

Look at those results!

Why I chose Young Living?

My education and real-world experience is in environmental science and sustainability, so it's no surprise that YL's sustainability practices immediately struck me as unique and a movement that I wanted to support, wholeheartedly. YL operates their farms around the world to bring us essential oils that are from their native environment. In Oman, Sacred Frankincense is being distilled for the first time.  Gary Young and the team at YL have worked so closely with the people of Oman to create a strong, trusting relationship that YL is the first and only company to have permission to export Sacred Frankincense to the west. Wow! Check out more about their farms HERE.

Seed to Seal guarantee...what does that mean?

Young Living Essential Oils has been around for over 21 years. There are many other essential oil companies to choose from these days (and we do mean many); we see essential oils at almost every store we walk into.

So what makes us so different?

  • We are the ONLY essential oil company that owns its own farms or partners with farms that work up to our standards.
  • We test the dirt for pesticides.
  • We test the water for additives and toxins.
  • We harvest our own seeds to ensure there are no genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
  • We use essential oils as natural pesticides on our crops.
  • We harvest our plants according to the highest yield of potent oil--sometimes during the day, during the night, by hand, by tool, by machinery.
  • We distill on-site in our own distilleries, which are made of medical grade stainless steel, use low heat, slow steam processing to retain therapeutic properties of the oil, and we distill only one time. We test our own oils several times throughout the distillation process and after. We also bottle our own oils. All other essential oil companies buy their oils already distilled and have no quality or purity controls.

My daily beauty regimen

When I started this oily journey, one of the first things I did was switch out all of our cleaning products to DIY versions using Thieves household cleaner. THEN, I switched out all my skincare products. I tend to forget that my skin is an actual organ and not this protective shield that doesn't need some love. Those wrinkles that have popped up are a good reminder ;)

Here are my daily secret weapons to fight off wrinkles, red splotches, acne, tired eyes and dull skin. I wash my face daily, sometimes morning and night, just depends on how my skin is feeling; apply toner, only if my skin is feeling oily; apply my face serum morning and night (I never forget my serum!); and top it off with my moisturizer. I keep my ‘clear skin’ roller handy for those pesky little pimples and a nightly under eye roller for tired eyes. Once or twice a week, I use the microdermabrasion scrub all over my face and neck. This scrub is a game changer! No more dull skin. #oilandglassrecipebook

14 Day Challenge

Alright, grab that PSK, open it up, get those oils out, set that diffuser up, we are going to play, play, play!

First things first, no one is an oils expert, you read that right, not even me. I learned by reading through our groups, books, and experimenting with my oils! There are three ways to use the oils, aromatic (diffusing), topical (on your body), and ingesting (in your body).

Start this challenge by setting up your diffuser, picking a couple of oils from your starter kit and diffuse away!

*Remember, start with like 3/4/5 drops MAX, you can always add more if you want. There is no right or wrong when it comes to diffusing, play around, see what you are drawn too.

Need to wake up? Lemon + Peppermint are an amazing combo!
Want to rest? Lavender + Stress Away
Dreaming of a beachy island? Peppermint + Stress Away
Respiratory support? RC/Raven + Lemon

The possibilities are endless, have fun!
Comment with your favorite combo!
There are lots of simple things that you can do in five minutes or less to crack open the seals on your bottles of magic.

1- Smell the magic: open the bottle and smell the oil, keep in mind it will smell differently when it's on your skin and in the diffuser. Why is this? Well just like music, oils are made up of different notes, top, middle and base. Which is why we use oils in all different ways, so freakin cool!

2- Hand Cupping: place a drop of the oil in the palm of your hand, flatten your hand, the take your other hand and rotate the oils clockwise (this gets the molecules in the oils spinning, helps them come to life) cover your nose and mouth and inhale. You can also rub any leftovers on your wrists, back of your ears, feet, down your spine. If the oil feels hot, add some carrier oil (coconut, grapeseed, olive oil etc)

3- Diffuser jewelry: you can drop oils right onto the jewelry and diffuse on the go. Some of our favorites are lava stones, leather, cork, felt, these absorb the oils the best.

Oils & Emotions Online Class

Oils & Emotions Online Class

Earlier this week I promised a more in depth online class presenting everything you need to know about using oils for emotional health. In case you missed the other presentation, here it is Balancing Healthy Emotions presentation >>>

This class is all about emotions. Emotions can be difficult and even scary. It is so much easier to suppress emotions than to recognize, feel, and process them. However, the ability to recognize, feel, process, and release emotions will enable you to function in a more positive and successful state so you can live free to create the life you desire.

We learn about and develop emotions from birth, through early childhood development and onward. Which means that helping children recognize emotions and learn to process emotions is one of the most powerful gifts you can give as a parent or caregiver.

It also means that if you didn’t develop and utilize effective techniques to process your emotions early on, you may have some catching up to do. Don’t worry. I will give you easy tools to use so you can learn how to process your emotions in a healthy way.

Creative Development // Growing Happy Kids >>>

In this class, I will share popular essential oils that can be used with various emotions. I will also share different techniques to make using your oils more effective for those of all ages. Throughout the class we share where these oils should be applied topically. We used the alarm points listed for each oil from the book "Releasing Emotional Patterns with Essential Oils" by Carolyn L. Mein, D.C.

Oh baby! Explore Essential Oils for Baby and Mom-to-be!

Are you expecting? Or do you know someone who is? You may wonder if using oils during pregnancy or with littles is safe. If you use them wisely and pay attention to the guidelines, you can feel good about using them, and from one mama to another, they can be a lifesaver! I used them throughout mine for aches + pains (surprisingly, black pepper is amazing and marjoram, too), nausea (hello, ginger!), mama acne (purification and melrose) and to keep my immune system strong I used thieves everywhere. I included some of my favorite "little" recipes below, and this presentation gets right to the heart of the matter. xo

I made this baby starter package for a dear friend after she had her new baby. The package included sleepytime foot rub, boo boo spray, thieves spray (to clean all those toys that go straight into the mouth), diaper rash cream (no petroleum products!), lavender essential oil and a "happy mama" roll on for her. All items were natural, organic, and specifically diluted for little bodies. Except for the happy mama roller, that was just for her 😍.

Make this as a gift or for your family. Or maybe DIY isn't your thing? Check out this product line >>>

Sleepytime Foot Rub

Baby Dilution (Ages 6 months – 3 years)

  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops cedarwood essential oil
  • 5 drops Young Living Valor®/Valor II® (optional, but a very effective addition)
  • ½ cup cold-pressed, organic coconut oil
  • 4 oz glass jar

Kid Dilution (Ages 3 – 8 years)

  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops cedarwood essential oil
  • 10 drops Young Living Valor®/Valor II® (optional, but a very effective addition)
  • ½ cup cold-pressed, organic coconut oil
  • 4 oz glass jar

Scoop coconut oil into bowl and blend with fork or electric mixer to make it fluffy and soft. Transfer to glass jar and mix in essential oils. Application: Massage on feet before bed or nap time (put on socks to avoid getting oils on sheets).

Boo Boo Spray

  • 7 drops frankincense essential oil
  • 7 drops lavender essential oil
  • 7 drops tea tree essential oil
  • Organic fractionated coconut oil or carrier oil of your choice
  • Distilled water
  • 2 oz glass spray bottle

Drop essential oils into spray bottle. Fill the remainder of the bottle with equal parts coconut oil and distilled water. Gently roll between hands to mix before each use. Spray directly on boo boo. Apply as often as needed. Don't forget the smooch that makes it all better!

Diaper Rash Cream

  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 5 drops Gentle Baby essential oil blend
  • 5 drops Melrose essential oil blend
  • 3 tbsp of beeswax pellets
  • 3 tbsp shea butter
  • 3 tbsp cold-pressed, organic coconut oil
  • 4 oz glass jar

Using a double boiler (if you don't have one, you can simply set a glass pyrex dish over a sauce pan filled with water), melt the shea butter, beeswax, and coconut oil over medium heat. Do not boil. Once liquefied, remove from the heat and let cool. Add in the essential oils, adn put the cream in the refrigerator to bring it back to a solid state. Before mixing, let it sit out at room temperature to slightly soften. Using an electric mixer, whip it until fluffy. Using a wooden spatula, transfer to a glass jar.

To apply, rub some in between your palms first to soften and warm, and apply gently to baby as often as needed. Let your babe smell your hands, too. This recipe is full of calming oils.

Restful Sleep Linen Spray

  • 10 drops lavender essential oil
  • 10 drops cedarwood essential oil
  • 1 teaspoon of alcohol (rubbing alcohol or vodka)
  • Distilled water
  • 2 oz glass spray bottle

Add essential oils and alcohol to spray bottle. Fill the remainder of the bottle with distilled or filtered water. Use a mini funnel when adding witch hazel and water to the spray bottle. Gently roll bottle between your hands to mix. Spray your bed sheets, lovey, etc.

Happy Mama Roller Bottle Blend

  • 20 drops Joy™ essential oil
  • 15 drops frankincense essential oil
  • 15 drops orange essential oil

Oils & Scripture

Did you know that there are at least 33 different essential oils or aromatic oil-producing plants mentioned in the Bible? There are over 600(!!!) references to essential oils and/or the aromatic plants from which they were extracted in the Bible. Essential oils are also referred to in the Bible as fragrances, odors, ointments, aromas, perfumes or sweet savors. Incense is mentioned 68 times in the Bible. In 54 of these, the oils of frankincense, myrrh, galbanum, and onycha are indicated! There are four references to the oil of joy or gladness and how oils rejoice the heart.

Using essential oils is a very personal decision much like the beliefs and values each of us hold. We encourage that you explore Scripture, verses or phrases shared in this presentation with kindness and respect. We each walk a spiritual path unique to our hearts and our souls- it is sacred space. Our words can lift us up or take us down. This presentation aims to lift each other up as we discover how oils can enhance our experiences in prayer, worship and study. Practice kindness.

We cannot talk about oils without mentioning plants. After all, oils are the liquid gold of plants. On the third day of creation,  “the earth brought forth vegetation, plants yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit with seed in them, after their kind; and God saw that it was good. There was evening and there was morning, a third day.”  (Genesis 1:12-13) What a delight to read that God declared plants are good! We can find about 600 references to essential oils or fragrant plants in the Bible.  Oils were used for 3 main purposes: anointing, healing and worship through the use of incense. The first time oils are mentioned is in Exodus 25:6 when God calls upon His people to bring an offering. “oil for the light, and spices for the anointing oil and for the sweet incense”.

When we read on, there are stories of oils and aromatic plants being treasured as more valuable than gold and silver. They are frequently stored with royal treasures (2 Kings 20:13), brought into the holy space of worship in the Tabernacle in Exodus 30:23-25), and used to anoint King Saul and David. Most treasured of all are the essential oils bestowed in celebration and worship of Jesus Christ. Baby Jesus was gifted Frankincense and Myrrh. Later, during his ministry, he was anointed twice with Spikenard.

Fragrance was an integral part of Biblical ceremonies and often something God required of His believers. Moses added spices and fragrant oils to pure olive oil (Exodus 30). Psalms 45 tells us the Messiah will be clothed with the scent of myrrh, aloes and cassia. Paul writes in Philippians 4:18, about gifts that are a “a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.” Incense was another form of fragrance, burned twice daily in the Tabernacle and later in the Jerusalem temple.

These essential oils of the Bible were more than just for scent; they were also used for healing. In Ezekiel 47:12, it is written ““Along the bank of the river, on this side and that, will grow all kinds of trees used for food. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will be for food, and their leaves shall be for medicine.” They were often incorporated into ointments and salves.

But that’s not all!  These oils also brought joy and gladness to the heart (Psalm 45:7-8, Proverbs 27:9, Isaiah 61:3 and Hebrews 1:9).  The essential oils of the Bible are high in specific constituents that can actually support emotional and spiritual well-being on a cellular level.

There is also science backing up the strength and the value of the Biblical oils. The three most dominant compounds of the Biblical oils are: Sesquiterpenes, Monoterpenes, and Phenols. There are also ketones, aldehydes, and esters in these oils. Each of them offer benefits for our spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical well being.

  • Sesquiterpenes are oxygenating, mood elevating, and deprogram miswritten or garbled codes in the DNA. This compound can stimulate the pineal gland to enhance the spiritual experience. They are also strong supporters of the immune system and boost the body’s natural defenses.
  • Monoterpenes, much like sesquiterpenes, are hostile to microbes and reprogram cells with correct information. This compound can also access the pineal gland to increase the spiritual experience. They are also strong supporters of the immune system and boost the body’s natural defenses.
  • Phenols, ketones, and aldehydes are antiseptic, cleanse receptor sites, and detoxify our bodies whereas esters are calming. Esters help reduce stress and release emotions. Phenols can also support  healthy hormonal balance and body function.

Here's a presentation centered on the specific oils found in the Bible...
