Young Living Peppermint Essential Oil

Peppermint: So, truth be told, I think I fell in love with peppermint when I had my first mint chocolate chip ice cream cone… probably before I could walk! That evolved to an all-things-chocolate-mint obsession, so it’s not surprising that peppermint is a favorite essential oil. BUT I always put it in a “dessert” category. So it’s funny to now have it as such a staple in my training routine!

I love to start my day with a drop of peppermint, lemon and grapefruit in my water. It’s a great pick-me-up for my 5:30am spin class or bodypump class, or before any run. Each of these oils are part of Young Living’s Vitality Line so they are safe to ingest. (If you find the peppermint too strong, try 2 drops of lemon and grapefruit to 1 drop of peppermint. You can add more to taste and depending on the size of your bottle or glass) I also love to diffuse peppermint, grapefruit and black pepper in the morning if I need an extra energy boost while getting ready for my workout or for the day. In a Swell or Sigg metal bottle, the water stays cool all day and a drop of peppermint is a refreshing addition.⠀

A drop of peppermint on the back of your neck is another great way to kickstart your body for a workout, and fantastic way to cool down afterwards. Or soak a towel in cool water with a drop of peppermint, then apply the towel to the back of your neck. Heaven!!⠀

In the summer months when sunscreen is especially needed, a drop of peppermint during application has a cooling effect. I’ve done this before my bike rides and it feels like I’m wearing arm coolers. And when I return to my home it smells like cooling peppermint!⠀

{PLEASE NOTE… wash your hands if you get any peppermint oil on your fingertips. I forgot to do that once and then touched my eye. BIG MISTAKE!!! Although, it made me wonder about making a spray bottle of peppermint to bring with me instead of a can of mace!}
