Part 3 // Chakras & Oils Series

We're heading into the last part of this series. This last section will cover the Heart Chakra, the start of the upper four chakras and the transition from the physical-related chakras to those associated with the higher self. This chakra serves as a means of connection for the chakras as a whole, as well as our connection to others and the universe around us. There's lots to cover, take your time to absorb and grow!

Fourth / Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra is the connection between matter and spirit. Located at the heart center, the fourth chakra is at the middle of the seven and unites them. The fourth is also spiritual but serves as a bridge between our body, mind, emotions, and spirit. The Heart Chakra is our source of love and connection. It encompasses the heart and lungs, and the chakra itself exists within the chest, just above the heart. The lesson of this chakra is I Love.

The Heart Chakra is most often associated with the color green. Green is a color of harmony, growth, abundance and nature. Green works to revitalize the nerves, offering new energy outward to renew and fresh the sense of vitality.

The Spiritual Chakras

In the first half of the series, we covered the Root Chakra, Sacral Chakra, and Solar Plexus Chakra. These more physical chakras deal with energies that are more concerned with the fundamental functions of life and well-being. They are not of less importance, but rather serve as more foundational energies that provide the basis for a higher self.

These following three sections are concerned with the final three chakras: the Throat Chakra, the Third Eye or Brow Chakra, and the Crown Chakra.

Fifth Chakra: The Vishuddha chakra is the fifth chakra, located in the area of the throat. This is our source of verbal expression and the ability to speak our highest truth. The fifth chakra includes the neck, thyroid, and parathyroid glands, jaw, mouth, and tongue. ***The lesson of this chakra is to speak up and let your voice be heard.***

Sixth Chakra: The Ajna Chakra is located in between the eyebrows. It is also referred to as the “third eye” chakra. Ajna is our center of intuition. We all have a sense of intuition but we may not listen to it or heed its warnings. Focus on opening the sixth chakra will help you hone this ability. ***The lesson of this chakra is to see the big picture.***

Seventh Chakra: The Sahasrara Chakra or the “thousand petal lotus” chakra is located at the crown of the head. This is the chakra of enlightenment and spiritual connection to our higher selves, others, and ultimately, to the divine. It is located at the crown of the head. ***The lesson of this chakra is live mindfully.***

Fifth Chakra / Throat

The first of the three more spiritual or ‘Higher Self’ chakras is the Throat Chakra. Like the physical nature of the throat, the Throat Chakra deals with communication and expression of ideas, thoughts, feelings, and emotions. It is our center of expression in terms of vocalizing truths. Generally, this chakra begins to develop later in life, as one becomes more comfortable expressing their ideas, opinions, and thoughts to others. This chakra relates to the thyroid gland, upper lungs, and the respiratory system.

The Throat Chakra is also associated with the color blue. Because the Throat Chakra deals with open communication and clarity, one way to conceptualize its relation to blue is the instance of clear skies – open and bright blue. Blue is related to devotion, health, infinity, and calm.

How do you know if your Throat Chakra is unbalanced? Habitual lying. Difficulty communicating or feeling of insecurity when expressing oneself. Nervousness. Voice loss. Fear of no power or choice. No willpower, out of control. Mind and heart aren’t connected.

Sixth Chakra / Third Eye

The Third Eye Chakra has the quality of subtle ether. Ether is the connectedness of space – it’s what exists between all things, regardless of time. The Third Eye Chakra is a chakra that, in a sense, reveals the nature of this ether to our understanding. It enables us to experience clear thought and mindfulness of the object at hand, and it’s considered to be the source of our dreams, as well as psychic abilities, such as Clairvoyance. When this chakra is balanced we feel clear, focused, and can determine between truth and illusion. We are open to receiving wisdom and insight. Blocked by illusion.

In a similar capacity to our understanding of the brain, this chakra acts as the “command station” of the body and mind. It a place of consciousness that allows us to reflect upon the nature of things, including ourselves. It’s here that we look within ourselves and act as a witness or observer, a reflective point of view.

The color of the Third Eye Chakra is indigo blue, a powerful color relates to connection and the door to divinity. Indigo is a color of insight, a bridge between the left and right sides of the brain. It is a color of symbolic thinking and visionary abilities.
